Andrea joined the Canadore family in 1998 as part of the Canadore’s Child Care facility for 6 years. She then moved into the Finance Department and worked with accounts payable/purchasing for another 6 years. Andrea moved into the Financial Aid Department for 2 years and can now be found in the Admissions Office.

Why does Andrea love working at Canadore?

“Prior to returning to University in 1986, as an adult learner, I worked in a variety of capacities which included book keeping, sales and counseling.
Then, I began my career in teaching/educational administration.  I was privileged to teach and be an administrator in Elementary and Secondary settings prior to coming to Canadore in August 2005 to assume my position as a Dean.”

Why does Mary Lou love being a Dean?

“My work as a Dean is a natural extension of the work that I did as a teacher and Principal.  I enjoy collaborating with Faculty, staff and fellow administrators to ensure that Canadore students are provided with the highest quality learning environment and experiences.  It is all about student success.
I, thoroughly, enjoy being a member of the Canadore family.”

Featured Employee: Lise Paxton



Lise Paxton

Recreation and Wellness Coordinator, Panther Athletics




Lise has been with Canadore for 5 years and is a graduate from our Recreation Leadership program. She also completed one year of Broadcast Journalism and a year towards her Bachelor of Arts at Nipissing University. She is a Canfitpro Certified Personal Trainer Specialist and has completed many fitness certifications such as Les Mills RPM, Twist Conditioning BOSU, Gliding Master Trainer and Schwinn Cycling.

Prior to joining the Canadore team, Lise worked at the North York Y.M.C.A. as the Enrichment Program Coordinator, the Laurentian Ski Hill as Assistant Ski School Coordinator and spent over ten years as Fitness Manager at the GoodLife Fitness Clubs in North Bay, overseeing the Personal Training Department. Lise was also a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor and continues to teach RPM classes at GoodLife.

 Why does Lise love working at Canadore?

“My father worked most of his career at Canadore and it was something that I always aspired to do.  What I love most about working at Canadore, and especially in Athletics, is the people and the students.  For the most part we get to do the “fun” stuff and we are able to offer activities to the students that can help make their experience at positive one. “

Featured Employee: Tracie Marsh-Fior

Tracie started working at Canadore College in June of 2005 as the Manager of Continuing Education and later became the Director of Contract Training in 2007. In 2010, Tracie became the Dean of Continuing Education and later added Campus Dean, Commerce Court to the list.

Why does Tracie love being a Dean?

"The people. Every day I am in contact with students, faculty, staff, co-workers as well as community members and industry, both locally and across the province. I also enjoy the broad scope of my position as Campus Dean as it allows me to continuously learn and grow professionally, and is extremely busy and ever changing. I consider myself extremely fortunate to work at Canadore and can honestly say I love where I am today – and I credit this to the incredible people I am in contact with on a daily basis."
